Originally born on the East Coast, DJ Derek Monteiro has over 8 years experience as a disc jockey. Over the last 5 years while working in Los Angeles, he has become a professional dancer. He credits his dance background and love for music for where he is today as a DJ. Derek specializes in house music with Latin influences, dirty drum loops, deep dark or funky rhythms, and sexy vocals. Having knowledge of techno, booty house, and garage music makes Derek versatile and able to spin for a variety of markets and venues. He can play anything from funk to hip hop, house or club classics with ease.

If DJ Derek Monteiro looks familiar… you were probably watching the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards during the infamous Britney Spears performance, where Derek appeared as a principle dancer on stage with the Pop icon. When Derek’s not getting his crotch grabbed by Pop stars, he can be heard spinning at Hollywood hot spots such as Avalon, Area, Here Lounge, Arena, Eleven and East/West. DJ Derek Monteiro holds weekly residencies at the Factory every Friday night, as well as Sundays at Area, Fresh Fridays at Eleven and Saturdays at Destinations.
